Salisbury Group of Diabetes UK
celebrated their 30th anniversary with a luncheon at The Grasmere
House Hotel, Harnham on Sunday 26th February 2006.
Our guests included Dr Mullan,
our President, and former Diabetes Consultant, Dr. James Lawrence, Diabetes
Consultant at Salisbury District Hospital, Diabetes Nurses Mandy Roberts and
Kim Froggett, recently retired Diabetes Nurse, Jan Oxenham, Sheila Bevis,
now retired, who worked with Dr. Mullan for many years. Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Robinson from Bournemouth, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mosdall from Chippenham,
Area Co-ordinator for Wiltshire. Mrs. Jan Tyrell, South West Region Manager
from Taunton presented our Chairman, Janet Harris, with a certificate
celebrating 30 years as Salisbury Group.
Dr. Mullan gave a resume of the
previous 30 years and thanked several members who had been with the group
from the beginning, Janet being one of them. He thanked everyone for
working hard over the years raising money for local needs and wished them
success for future fundraising!

Diabetes UK Salisbury held their Christmas Social and
prize draw at the Barrington Hall, Bishopdown Estate, Salisbury on 1st
December. Janet Harris welcomed members and
guests who enjoyed a buffet. This was followed by the DRAW. A single size
hand-made quilt made by four members of Sarum Quilters was the 1st prize and
was won by Mrs.Marion Joscelyn. Annabelle Downing, Jo Pearson and Kathy
Lawrence, from Sarum Quilters, helped draw the tickets. Sue Goodridge,
Secretary, handed a cheque for £715.00. to Dr. James Lawrence,
Diabetes Consultant at Salisbury District Hospital. Dr. Dermott Mullan, our
President, also attended the evening.
